Li-Mei is a quietly-stubborn girl and resident goth princess. The amount of sheer black she wears is only outweighed by the vibrant smile reserved for just about every individual on planet Earth. She has a cheerful outlook and steadfast need to see any project that she begins straight through to its end, whether that be triumph or failure. It's that unwavering determination that makes her a lethal and formidable Sailor Senshi.
Li-Mei plays the cello and is a well-known concert cellist in Beijing. After moving to Tokyo, she plays small showings for her friends, often using these little outings to relieve stress between battles during the quiet times in their lives.
Li-Mei is a devoted friend and never stops for a moment to think of herself first in a perilous situation. She's often the first to jump straight into a battle, and her combat skills, though not technically trained, have been honed over years of living alone in Beijing and learning how to protect herself, because she would have been easy prey if she hadn't. She fights mostly for her friends, but ever in the back of her mind is present the knowledge that if they had known even a few weeks sooner, Chikatte's armies would never have been able to destroy Mendhai and its fellow worlds so quickly.
Li-Mei's alter persona, that of the Princess Bixia Yuanjin, still holds the Princess Mellissandre responsible. It was her violation of deity-imposed law that let Chikatte loose on their star system and the universe, and therefore it's almost Mellissandre's fault - in a looser sense - that all the girls had to be relocated and reincarnated with their guardians on earth. Mellissandre is, in her mind, somewhat responsible for the destruction of all their worlds. As princesses, Mellissandre and Bixia Yuanjin have a somewhat antagonistic relationship. It is easy to believe that Bixia may indeed never forgive Mellissandre for what happened. It's also easy to believe that this may be what causes so many arguments between Li-Mei and Andi, for a little of Bixa bleeds over into Li-Mei just as Mellissandre sometimes takes the forefront with Andi herself. Aside, that is, from their usual tempers. Both girls have the same style of personality, and the clash that usually comes from such likeness is present here as it would be with anyone else. Even so, it is ironic to note that their little squabbles and occasional arguments would prevent nothing from coming in the way of these girls protecting each other. It almost seems that their bickering somehow brings them closer together, for it is still true that in a heart's single beat, Bixia would lay down her life for the princess of the innermost planet of their system still today.

Princess Bixia Yuanjin, heiress of the Neiminian crown and last child of the third Yuanjin Dynasty, could sense that her world's end was near. She sighed, fingers running along the strings of her shiang. The stringed instrument had such a mournful tone; it seemed appropriate to play it while she waited for the end.
As her fingers continued their melancholy touches, sending the notes of sorrow and finality through the air, Bixia became aware of a figure standing in the doorway. "Lu," she said, smilin sadly.
"I never could stay away when you played." The dark-eyed figure in the doorway straightened, bowing deeply for his princess. His black-brown hair fell long and glossy over one shoulder, red-lined black cape swirling around his booted feet. He stepped to her side, set the shiang aside, and pulled her into his arms. "I tried, my Princess," he said sorrowfully. "All our armies were not enough."
"It wasn't for you to decide our fate," she replied softly, fighting back the tears. "I know you did your best. No one could ever ask for more than that."
"I can," he said, unable to keep back the burning guilt.
"Hush...just spend the end with me...I'd like to know we were together when our world became dust."
Lu Dong-Bin sighed, the frown still creasing his smooth brow. He knew there was nothing more he could have done. That, however, did not mean he had to like it. "I'll always be with you," he promised.
Hours later, in a mirror of their sister worlds, the last Outpost had fallen. The charred, smoking ruin of a world that was coming to be Chikatte's mark spread as far as eye could see. A lone figure strode through the remains, sad ruby eyes set almond-shaped and wide in a noble, chiseled face framed by long, raven-black hair. 'It was only a matter of time,' he reasoned. Chen-Wing, patron god of Neimin, god of Sunrise and the Dawning Hours, sat down on a fallen pillar beside the bodies of his world's princess protector and her knight guardian, who had, as they had chosen, died in each other's arms and now lay curled together as if in sleep. Chen-Wing looked down sadly on them for a few moments and then turned his eyes to the sky. 'Surely my brethren and sisters wish this changed as I?' he spoke to the Father-God.
'Wait but a small time, my Son,' Irrin directed from his heavenly vantage-point. 'All our children will be sent forward together...and they will awaken to find each other again. On a world where Chikatte can not only gain the most power, but be at the greatest disadvantage.'
Chen-Wing nodded, falling silent as he sought out the world that Irrin had spoke of. 'The moon of the Silver Millennium,' he said, surprised. 'It no longer sustains life.'
'There is but one world in that system that still sustains life. Their Earth. And it is that world I speak of. Our children will fight well, there. They have already some protectors, the guardians of their worlds before the great Fall. Our children will do well to find those guardians. To learn from them. To learn how to fight as they must to keep our legacy from dying altogether. Go with your brothers and sisters as we send our children forth...guide your Neminian protectors, teach them what they must know to survive and live to banish Chikatte again.'
Chen-Wing stood up, bowing deeply though Irrin was not physically present. He watched as Bixia and Lu's Starseeds, their souls, winged their way upward in black-red crystals, headed for new lives on Earth. 'It shall be as you say, Irrin. I will be only too glad to attend their needs.' In a moment's shifting of form, the little ebony cat that was Chen-Wing's totem took to the sky, running alongside his fellow Gods and Goddesses as they led their children to their truly last Outpost, the final stand before Chikatte's chaos consumed the universe. And if Chen-Wing had his way...Chikatte would be thrust right back into the void that spawned him.
The sun would rise another day, on this Earth.

Li-Mei wandered the evening streets of Beijing with no real destination in mind. She always liked the after-dark hours of the city, when everything seemed to hush just slightly, people having gone home to their loved ones and friends. Her curiously golden eyes betrayed her mixed heritage as did her strawberry-blonde hair, cut just at her chin in a messy boy-like style. There was just enough fullness that it could be styled if Li-Mei so chose. She rarely did.
Li-Mei turned a corner, surprised to have found herself once more at the practice hall where she played her concerts with the other members of her little string ensemble. She smiled, walking up the steps to the entrance, and made her way into the small room where she so often rehearsed. She slipped her cello's case from the storage locker where she kept it when it wasn't in use, and pulled the glossy cherrywood instrument almost reverently from its container. The comforting weight came to rest against her leg and she strummmed the bow across the strings, eyes closing at the rich, full baritone sound it produced. The music echoed through the room as though on angel's wings, floating serenely away toward the windows and into the night air.
It wasn't until she stopped playing that Li-Mei saw a figure standing silouhetted in the doorway to the little practice room. A soft smile hit her usually-somber face. "Yue," she murmured softly. There was only one person she knew who could be so unnoticed in an empty room and yet be able to make Li-Mei notice him. Yue Long-Sheng, one of her best friends since she'd been a child, and now a lot more than that, smiled, clapping quietly as he pushed away from the doorframe.
His dark eyes were warm as he stepped to her and embraced her. "I never could stay away when you played," he said, grinning openly at her now.
"I know, I know, pied piper and all that rubbish," she replied, chuckling softly as she stowed the cello away once more in its case, returning it to the storage locker.
He laughed. "Come on," he offered her a hand. "I'm hungry...buy you a midnight snack?"
She grinned back at him, slipping her slender fingers around the offered hand, and together they walked out into the night. The young pair chatted back and forth about this and that, eventually slipping into an easy silence, the kind that one finds with that person who is just perfectly suited to be their other half. It wasn't until Yue paused, looking around himself with a frown that Li-Mei realized something was bothering him. "What's wrong, Yue?" she asked worriedly.
"I could swear I've been followed," he muttered. "I just feel like I'm being watched."
"By who?"
"I don't know...not who. A what. It's not...human."
Li-Mei had learned to trust Yue's hunches. The boy's instincts had never led them wrong yet. "All...all right, Yue."
His eyes darted to an alley not far from where they stood, and with sudden, almost painful movement, he shoved her away. "Run, Li!" he cried, even as something barrelled out of the shadows and slammed into Yue's midsection, sending both figures rolling to the earth.
Li-Mei let out a shriek. "YUE!"
"RUN!" he commanded again, his voice taking on a note of authority now.
She turned after several moments of hesitation, ready to run, and found her exit trapped by what looked like a creature made entirely of shadows. After a startled yelp, she took a swing at it, staggering a little and yelling again when her hand went straight through it, knocking her off-balance. She was forced off to one side into the grip of another shadow while the second thing joined the first in holding Yue down. "YUE!" she screamed again.
While the first creature pinned him, the second held up one arm. The arm blurred and reformed into a needle-pointed spear, which was then harpooned down sharply through Yue's chest. Li-Mei cried his name again, struggling forward despite the claw-like grip on her from the third creature. His body seized, stiffening for a moment, and then went limp, his eyes blank as the creature drew forth a sparkling little crystal with a bead of reddish black glowing in the center of it.
"Princess Bixia Yuanjin! Save him!" A tiny, ebony-furred cat with eyes of bright ruby darted in past the shadow-creatures, swiping the from the one that now held it. The little crystal bounced away, and the cat picked it up in its teeth, dropping it in Li-Mei's hand while the girl watched in confusion. The cat then took a swipe at the creature holding her with one little paw, claws raking through the now-tangible flesh. A slim, Chinese-style sword shimmered into being hovering in front of Li-Mei, and she stared in shock. "Take it! Take the Xia-Xing! Save Lu Dong-Bin's life!"
"H-How?" Li-Mei asked in utter confusion, trembling now with the strangeness of it all. Even as she asked, one hand closed around the hilt of the slim sword, and she gasped. Images clear as day of herself and Yue - only not - flickered through her mind, hidden memories rushing back out into the light. A set of words formed on her lips without her permission. "Dawning Light, Pilot Me!" she cried, the sword going up over her head. A rush of black and red energy surrounded her in a violent vortex of wind and strength, burning the shades away with the sheer power. The little cat jumped to each pile of ash, fishing out a black crystal, which he crushed in his teeth.
After the energy tornado had vanished, Li-Mei was standing in the garb of what could only be called a feminine warrior...a Sailor Senshi. "Standing invited by the hand of the darkness before dawn, my power of shadows will be the end of you! I am Sailorjhein and your ass," she grinned viciously at the remaining shadow that was hunched over Lu Dong-Bin - Yue's - motionless figure, "is grass."
